“ROSEMARIE’S CONSOLATION PRIZES”

by Matthew Rowland

Loose tied knots on the box

of memories you left me:

A necklace with teeth marks,

the strings of a violin.

A rosemary bush

growing up real tall in the car lot.

Frogs that flip,

swans and simple shapes.

A goodbye hug,

and ribbon for fourth place.
